The Cooperativa Agraria Cafetalera Tahuantinsuyo de Pichanaki is an organization of an estimated 300 small to medium-sized Peruvian coffee farmers situated in the country’s top coffee producing region Junín, at about 13,400 feet above sea level. Members of this cooperative united to improve their crop and compete in the international coffee market. Recently, a partnership with AGROIDEAS, a governmental co-financing entity charged with improving competiveness in local agriculture efforts, has resulted in a new processing facility and cupping lab to help increase quality and production. The new facilities will allow the cooperative to export approximately 12,000 quintals of coffee a year, primarily to markets in the U.S., and Europe.
