Fair Trade @ Expo West

Fair Trade USA is in Anaheim this week, and no, we're not Space Mountain at Disneyland.  We're at Natural Products Expo West, the largest natural, organic and healthy products show in the world.  It's an exciting gathering of the most innovative brands in the industry, many of which release new Fair Trade products every year.  Today I got to walk the show floor to meet with our enthusiastic partners and talk about how we can work together to build the Fair Trade movement and bring more impact to the farmers and workers behind their delicious products.  At the same time, I was also lucky enough to sample many of these delicous products.  Here's a glipse:

Maine Root:

These guys are the coolest.  Matt and Mark Seiler are brothers who started Maine Root because they simply wanted to make a better root beer: One that tastes better and also does good for the people and the planet.  Their line of delicious and unique sodas features Fair Trade Certified cane juice from Paraguay. Today I got to sample their newest product: Fair Trade lemonade.  I have a feeling it's going to be a big hit this summer!

EatPastry Vegan Cookie Dough:

This is one of my favorite new products of the year: vegan cookie dough.  Best part: you can eat it raw (no eggs!) or you can bake it.  And it comes in six lovely flavors: Chocolate Chunk, Gluten-Free Chocolate Chunck, Oatmeal Raisen, Peanut Butter and Giner.  To learn more about this fun, new company, check out this video:

Naranjillo Cooperative, Peru:

One of the highlights of my day was meeting Issac from the Naranjillo Cooperative in Peru.  The cooperative that he respresents has more than 5,000 members who produce high-quality Fair Trade Certified cocoa and coffee.  Take a look at this video to see how Issac feels about Fair Trade (hint: we think he likes it!).

That was just a few of the many amazing people that I met today at Expo West.  Check out our YouTube page for even more videos. Can't wait to see what's in store for tomorrow!
